Blurb:

Two thousand years ago, the Prophecy of Fire and Light foretold the coming of the Queen Empress who would lead the Empire into a time of peace and tranquility. But instead of the coming of a prosperous world, a forbidden love for the Empress waged a war that ravaged the land, creating a chasm between the factions, raising the death toll of innocent lives until the final, bloody battle.

Centuries later, Alexandra, a twenty-two-year-old barista living in Boston, is taken to an unfamiliar realm of mystery and magic where her life is threatened by Reylor, its banished Lord Steward. She crosses paths with Treyan, the arrogant and seductive Crown Prince of the Empire, and together they discover how their lives, and their love, are so intricately intertwined by a Prophecy set in motion so many years ago.

Alex, now the predestined Queen Empress Alexstrayna, whose arrival was foretold by the Annals of the Empire, controls the fate of her new home as war rages between the Crown Prince and Lord Steward. Either choice could tear her world apart as she attempts to keep the Empire’s torrid history from repeating itself. In a realm where betrayal and revenge will be as crucial to her survival as love and honor, Alex must discover whether it is her choice – or her fate – that determines how she survives the Empire’s rising conflicts.

(Cover Reveal) “Shadows at Starlight: Soul Seekers Book Five” by Alice J. Black

Alice J. Black

About the Author

Alice lives and works in the North East of England with her partner and slightly ferocious cats! Alice has always enjoyed writing from being a child when she used to carry notebooks and write stories no matter where she went. Nothing much has changed and she writes all manner of fiction with a tendency to lean towards the dark side. Most of her work is rooted in darkness, her inspiration coming from a macabre selection of reads as well as the dreams that frequent her sleep.

Her debut novel, The Doors, was released three years ago and her next novel release, A Shadowed Beginning, the first part in a series of seven, was released in autumn. Several of her short stories have been included in anthologies with various presses and she is always working on more. When she’s not writing, she always has a book in her hand and will read from whatever genre suits her that day.

(Cover Reveal) “August Prather Is Not Dead Yet” by Danielle K. Roux

Title: Not Dead Yet

Not Dead Yet Cover

Publisher: Parliament House Press

Author: Danielle K. Roux

Blurb:

Katherine Garnet is a writer who has never cared much about much, making it awfully difficult to create new content. Despite the fact she has the “edge” of being trans (according to her cis male editor) she is not looking to capitalize on her own personal story. Garnet tries to sneak a peek at her rival, August Prather’s, latest fantasy manuscript about a quest for the elixir of life. While reading, Garnet gets accidentally dragged into a bizarre cross-country road trip that may or may not have a purpose and begins to see parallels in the story of the manuscript and the reality of their journey. Along the way, they encounter a parade of equally troubled individuals, including ghost-hunting priests, a robot magician, a discarded piece of furniture, a runaway teenager, and a Japanese rock star. As Garnet confronts her past, she begins to understand why someone might want to live forever.

About the Author

Danielle K. Roux

Danielle K. Roux is a writer, teacher, and historian. She has a BFA in Architectural History from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), an MA in Architectural History from the University of Virginia, and an MS in Elementary Educational Studies from Johns Hopkins University. Danielle has always loved reading and telling stories – especially stories with adventure, mystery, humor and at least a little bit of spookiness. While living in Savannah, she worked as a ghost tour guide which meant she got paid to tell local history and lore to people and walk around at night looking at cemeteries and gorgeous old buildings that were probably haunted.

Danielle has been writing fiction since she was nine, after getting tired of reading from the perspective of white, straight male characters in fantasy novels. Her first written story involved a group of middle school girls who find necklaces used by a dead witch that give them supernatural powers. It was written in notebooks in purple and green gel pens and may or may not still exist. She is inspired by traveling to new places and reading about the stories tied to the landscape. She has at least three novels building in her brain (or wherever novels come from) and wishes she was writing them all right now….

Danielle lives with her wife and loud, orange tabby cat in Baltimore but dreams of places with mountains and cool air. Her bookshelves are full of true crime, ghost stories, architecture books, graphic novels, and the Harry Potter series. Her favorite book she has read in the past year is H is for Hawk because it combines biography, history and memoir. Now she really wants to learn falconry. Her dream library would be accessed through a secret door and look something like the library in the animated Disney Beauty and the Beast, although it would also have a cute barista or sentient coffee machine that once was said barista.

When she isn’t writing or thinking about writing, Danielle is building houses in the Sims, listening to podcasts, or taking Buzzfeed quizzes to find out what kind of salad she is based on her birth month. She is constantly re-watching Arrested Development, Murder She Wrote, Doctor Who, Archer and Sherlock. She is also a big fan of Orange is the New Black even though they killed her favorite character and Game of Thrones even though they will probably kill all her favorite characters. In an ideal world, she would go outside more and walk around, but there are bugs out there and nature makes her sneeze. She wishes she could learn to knit, grow a garden, and make her own cheese but there are only so many hours in the day. She is a Slytherin but usually feels like a Ravenclaw. She likes red wine and coffee but not at the same time. Her favorite pizza is pizza made in a brick oven with fresh mozzarella.

(Book Review) Wildwood (The Hightower Trilogy Book 1) by Jadie Jones

Hi y’all! I must say I greatly enjoyed this book! It’s been so long that a book has kept me on the edge of my seat. Making me want more and left me thinking about it long after I had to part with it.

If you’re looking for fast paced, suspense, mystery, somewhat paranormal, and a girl with a love of horses and family this is something you’re going to love! I did this review in agreement with Parliament Publishing House and can’t wait to work more with them, now on to the review. I received this book for free for an honest review it is not required to be positive.

Synopsis: The story takes place at Wildwood Horse Farm nestled against the west-side of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. Opening on the focus on our main character a young woman who is celebrating her 18th birthday and has to decide if she’ll become an international horse jumper competitor or a studious college student.

Tragedy hits her when her dad takes her for a trail ride and he has what looks like a tragic horse riding accident.

Hope Hightower (Tanzy’s mom) comes out to the horse farm and river bank to “feel” if her husband/Tanzy’s father is alive. She also believes in “reading the sun/sky” for “signs” of how life that day will go. Can Tanzy’s mom see “the clear” a world entirely separate of our own, undetectable by human senses?

Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars!

Even though I’ve been having health issues I still found time to finish and thoroughly enjoy Ms. Jones’ “Wildwood”. Her main character Tanzy is awesome and truly amazing in this action packed adventure that really does leave you at the edge of your seat wanting more!

I give this book, story line and writing all 5 stars! It is hot as fire, thank you Parliament Publishing and Ms. Jones for this true work of art!

Here’s a few teasers of what you can find in the book:

Dean’s eyes were studying me. “You have a way with words. What kind of writing do you want to do?”

“Articles for Dad’s paper, to start.”

“What do you want to write about?”

I paused, suddenly uncertain about how much to share. Dean’s eyes were reassuring.

“When I know more, I’d like to write about deeper things.”

In my journal I logged this comment: “On the day that I was officially a grown woman, I felt anything but feminine rather, befouled from the sweat of hard physical labor and the stinking mud. I wanted nothing so much as to sleep for a week.”

Proofs of the week’s paper were spread out on what I grandly called my desk. This was a rickety wooden table against the side wall outside the Editor’s office.

“The lake is lovely,” I commented, “And so big. I still find it hard to believe it’s artificial.” “Oh, it’s artificial, all right. Dive deep and you may bash your head on tree stumps.”

About Catherine Marshall:

Born
in Johnson City, Tennessee, The United States September 27, 1914

Died
March 18, 1983

Genre
Religion & Spirituality, Nonfiction

Marshall was born in Johnson City, Tennessee.[1][2] She was the daughter of the Reverend John Ambrose Wood and Leonora Whitaker Wood.[1] From the age of nine until her graduation from high school, Marshall was raised in Keyser, West Virginia,[1] where her father served as pastor of a Presbyterian church from 1924 to 1942.[1]

While a junior at Agnes Scott College, she met Peter Marshall, marrying him in 1936.[1] The couple moved to Washington, DC, where her husband served as pastor of the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church and Chaplain of the United States Senate.

In 1940, Marshall contracted tuberculosis,[1] for which at that time there was no antibiotic treatment. She spent nearly three years recovering from the illness.[1] Her husband died in 1949 of a heart attack, leaving her to care for their 9-year-old son, Peter John Marshall. He later also became a minister and author.

Marshall wrote a biography of her husband, A Man Called Peter, published in 1951. It became a nationwide success and was adapted as a film of the same name, released in 1955. Her success encouraged her to keep writing.

Marshall wrote or edited more than 30 books, which have sold over 16 million copies.[citation needed] They include edited collections of Peter Marshall’s sermons and prayers, and her own inspirational writings. Her most successful books were A Man Called Peter (1951); and her novel, Christy (1967), which was inspired by the story of her mother’s time in the mountains teaching the impoverished children of Appalachia. Christy was adapted as a CBS television series, starring Kellie Martin, beginning in 1994.

In 1959, Marshall married Leonard LeSourd,[1] who was the editor of Guideposts Magazine for 28 years. Together they founded a book imprint, Chosen Books.[citation needed] They had three children, Linda, Chester and Jeffery.[3]

Marshall died on March 18, 1983 at the age of 68. She was buried alongside her first husband.

About the Author:

Sydney Paige Richardson

Even before Sydney could hold a pencil in her hand, she was making up stories in her head. Sydney wrote her first book in the second grade, Girls [sorry Lena Dunham], about her and her best friends in college [because college was super cool when you were 8] who went on treasure hunts and fought bad guys with their super powers. Her second grade teacher was so impressed, she laminated a cover and bound it. That will forever be the moment Sydney dreamed of holding a copy of her own book and placing it on a shelf.

Now all grown up, Sydney still stays in the fantasy world, fashioning worlds where the power of a star can be harnessed and used for time travel, flying is just as easy as walking here on earth – and her best friends are fairies. Sydney represented by Rebecca Angus at Golden Wheat Literary. The Halves of Us, Book 1 is her first novel. Sydney resides in Austin, Texas with her nerdy husband, Cody, and three fat cats, Vincent Van Gogh, Mufasa, and Bella.
